November 6th 2015 Server Problem Update

Update November 6th 2015: Server Problem Update.

More info on the outage affecting most of our websites and email accounts yesterday 5th November 2015.

First of all apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Things seem to be working fine now.

Below is an extract from the dialogue between ourselves and the hosting company.

As a reseller we rely on the hosting company (and of course you are clients do) also.

We have been with this company for over ten years and ordinarily find them very good.

However moving forward we will be speaking to them about perhaps another solution, which may be more expensive, but as we all rely heavily on these guys may prove worth it.

We are also going to look into maybe moving our email accounts back on to another server (and leave websites on this server).

We are planning to launch our new website in the New Year and intend to speak to each of our clients in turn to gather their thoughts and we will keep you informed each step of the way.

Apologies again and assuring you of our best attention at all times.

Gary Wilkie.

Hi Gary,

We have been fire fighting this all day today as best as we can. The DDOS attack seems to have been stopped for now but it could start again at any time. We are going to make some config changes tonight on the server to try and improve the situation if it happens again. We also found one account using the server as a platform for downloading software breaching our terms and conditions which added to the strain on the server. I have been using all the server resources over the last 2 hours to process the 10K emails in the mail queue which should now be finished so all your email should now have arrived. Apologies for the inconvenience this has caused today but it's just one of the risks of a shared hosting platform I'm afraid :/

Regards

Drew

Gary: We are going to look into moving away from a shared hosting platform.
